Mediterranean Universities Union
UNIMED
About our organization
UNIMED is a network of more than 100 universities coming from more than 20 countries of both shores of the Mediterranean. Founded in 1991, it aims to promote the collaboration between Higher Education Institutions of the Mediterranean Region in order to enhance scientific, cultural, social and economic development of the region. UNIMED carries out a number of activities in favour of associated Universities, such as promoting the international dimension of universities; supporting fund-raising activities; encourage mobility for students, researchers and academic staff; providing technical assistance for quality assurance; creating thematic SubNetworks; organising events; training academic and administrative staff of Universities.
Why we are partecipating in the project
UNIMED strongly affirms the importance of Food Safety to ensure a sustainable and equal future for future generations. The topic is extremely relevant for the fair management of natural resources, which falls to the social responsibility of universities. With this in mind, UNIMED is eager to join efforts to exchange knowledge and take steps towards a better world. UNIMED has signed an agreement with the FAO and set up the SubNetwork Food&Water. UNIMED has extensive experience in curriculum development and relies on Moroccan members in its network. Giving effective tools to younger generations for a fair and sustainable world is the reason why UNIMED participates.
Our role in the project
UNIMED is responsible for dissemination and exploitation activities, including website and social media, digital and paper informative materials, relationships with media, publications, events, etc. UNIMED is also in charge of the organisation of an International Congress and Open-Days at each Moroccan HEI to present the Master before its implementation. Moreover, UNIMED is responsible for the establishment of an educational network on Food Safety to develop a collaborative network, spreading educational initiatives and internationalisation in Morocco, as well as creating opportunities to attract other funding resources and students, and promote the cooperation beyond the end of the project.
